This Penguin Can Float

I shot a number of photos of this little guy.  He was bobbing up and down in front of the glass at an aquarium in New Orleans earlier this week.  I understand penguins 'fly' underwater (because I watch those nature shows alot since I don't have better things to do).  But what I didn't realize was how hard he had to work to stay submerged. He was really flapping those little wings hard just to stay down in front of the glass.

Anyway, walking around with an extremely wide angle lens is great for some large view and architecture photos but isn't the best for penguin portraits but I sort of like this one.  This little guy certainly had some spunk and I think it comes across in this photo.

Spunky Little Penguin, Aquarium Of The Americas, New Orleans, Louisiana

This aquarium is called Audubon Aquarium of the Americas and is part of the Audubon Nature Institute.  Their website is www.auduboninstitute.org/visit/aquarium.  Shameless plugs get me more web traffic.  :-)
