I shot this one night last week standing outside of the Montecito Country Club in California. It's obviously a very long exposure and I didn't have a tripod so I had to improvise a bit. My first attempt was a chair alongside the pool. But that was too low to get the club house and the sunset in the distance. What I really wanted was something about eye-height. The best I could do was one of the concrete fence posts around the pool. I balanced the camera on top of the post, set the timer to two seconds and got out of the way.
The lights on the middle left of the photo is traffic on route 101 back toward Santa Barbara leading to the lights of downtown near what I think is either the marina or Stearns Wharf area.
