Bald Head Island From the Air

This time of year many Ohioans head south to the beaches along the southeast coast of the United States for vacation or holiday.  It's mostly North and South Carolina, I think.  Hilton Head is maybe the most popular in South Carolina and I'd guess the Outer Banks is one of the more popular destinations in North Carolina.  Or maybe Myrtle Beach.

A few years ago we visited a place called Bald Head Island just off the coast of North Carolina.  The beaches, climate and feel of the island is similar to the rest of the coast of North and South Carolina.  Except maybe fewer people - you have to take a ferry to the island and there are no cars.  You drive around in golf carts.  It's a nice place and I like the fewer people part.  Check out their website here if you want - www.baldheadisland.com .

On this trip we did a bunch of things including taking a flyover of the island in a small four-seater out of Wilmington.  Even as hot and muggy as it was it was clear enough to get some decent photos of the island from the air.
