Big and bold and yellow, and a bit lonely

This flower is facing a very cool series of waterfalls and rapids in Colorado.  I found it just a few yards off a well-traveled trail alongside a set of cascades that I've described in in a post on this blog a couple of weeks ago.  I was initially attracted by this splash of yellow, back lit by the sun in the middle of all the greenery.   But then something occurred to me - many of the people walking by were watching the water and probably didn't notice this flower or his mates nearby.  I don't blame them, it was amazing stuff to see so much water rushing over rocks, fallen trees, etc.  This flow is such a pretty thing, particularly that time of day all lit up the way it was.   Sort of made me wish it was closer to the trail and able to get more attention.
