Santa Barbara Sunrise

Every so often I travel on business to southern California near Santa Barbara.  It's a unique place with interesting people and lots of cool geography to photograph.  And there's a vibe in Santa Barbara that's pretty cool so I always look forward to visiting. One of the advantages of traveling west from Ohio is easily being in place for a west coast sunrise because of the time difference.  I'm usually up and moving around outside before 5am, well before the sun.
The view here is looking back toward the main pier in Santa Barbara from the beach looking east.  I think it's called Stearns Wharf.  The coast along the portion of California runs east-west, which is a little hard to get used to.  You think on the west coast the water should be to your west, but it's not.  It's to the south.  The coast of Maine is similarly confusing, but on the other side of the country.
Once I got this image loaded and started looking at it I noticed this happy little wave in the lower right of the image.  Pure coincidence.
