Grand Colors

This is clearly the Grand Canyon, taken from the South Rim one afternoon as the sun was setting.  I've been working on a series of images from this area for the last week or so.  Most are wide, expansive views showing the Canyon and some big skies.  This one is a little different.  Sometimes it's nice to do the opposite just for a change of pace.  In this case it's just a portion of the Canyon shot looking down from the rim.  I amped up the colors a bit to bring out extra light and color detail on the rocks as the sun was setting off to the left.  I played with black and white on this image but it didn't do it justice.

Colors and details aside this is also an example of trying to do too much in the single photo.  The shots I took right before this and right after included sky and clouds and more of the Canyon.  They're cool and I like the others but this feels a bit more cozy, doesn't it?  Just you and the Canyon.  Ok, kidding.

The more I look at this image the more I like it.  I sort of get lost in this one, lots of details and colors all over the place.  Hope you like it too.
